Case Study
THE BRIEF
Wilson Coatings were appointed to install a new anti-slip PMMA walkway system to a railway bridge where the existing coating had reached the end of its serviceable life.
Due to the operational nature of the site, all works were carried out out of hours, ensuring minimal disruption to rail operations and maintaining full site safety at all times.
Scope of Works
• Out-of-hours working to comply with railway operational requirements
• Removal of the existing failed coating system
• Thorough mechanical and manual cleaning of the substrate
• Localised substrate repairs where required
• Application of primer to prepared areas
• Installation of Alltimes RTU PMMA anti-slip walkway system
• Broadcasting of anti-slip aggregate to achieve the required slip resistance
• Final inspection to ensure full coverage, performance, and compliance
System Installed
Alltimes RTU PMMA Anti-Slip Walkway System
This system was selected due to its:
• Rapid curing properties, ideal for restricted access and short working windows
• Excellent durability and flexibility
• High slip resistance in wet and contaminated conditions
• Proven performance in demanding environments such as rail infrastructure
Outcome
The completed works delivered a durable, slip-resistant walkway, significantly improving pedestrian safety and extending the service life of the structure.
The fast-curing PMMA system allowed the area to be safely returned to service within tight operational timeframes, meeting both performance and safety expectations.
Key Benefits
• Out-of-hours installation with minimal disruption
• Enhanced safety and slip resistance
• Long-term durability and protection
• Suitable for high-traffic and demanding environments
