THE BRIEF
Wilson Coatings were appointed to deliver a long-term waterproofing solution at Emmotts of Colne.
The existing roof and parapet areas had reached the end of their serviceable life, with visible
weathering, moisture ingress, and deterioration to the masonry substrate.
The client required a durable, low-maintenance solution capable of providing long-term protection.
Following a full site inspection, a 15-year Tor Elastaseal Z fully reinforced waterproofing system
was specified.
Scope of Works
• Preparation and refurbishment of existing masonry and roof areas
• Installation of new structural boarding where required
• Installation of carrier membrane / vapour control layer
• Full application of Tor Elastaseal Z reinforced waterproofing system
• Integration with existing metal roof sheets and junction details
Substrate Preparation
The existing stone walls exhibited signs of ageing and moisture penetration. To ensure long-term
performance and system integrity:
• All loose and friable materials were removed
• Surfaces were cleaned and prepared
• OSB3 boarding was installed to provide a stable, uniform substrate
• A carrier membrane / VCL was installed where required
This preparation ensured full compatibility with the liquid-applied waterproofing system.
Waterproofing System
The Tor Elastaseal Z system was installed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines:
• Primer applied to prepared substrates
• Fully reinforced Elastaseal Z system installed
• Reinforcement embedded at all corners, junctions and transitions
• Waterproofing returned up all upstands and parapets
• Finished with a smooth, seamless and durable topcoat
The system provides excellent flexibility, crack-bridging capability, and long-term resistance to
standing water and weather exposure.

• Complex junction detailing – reinforced to ensure long-term watertight performance
• Exposed environment – system selected specifically for durability and longevity
